Combined Test

This "combined test" consists of several parts.

Ultrasound:

• Measurement of the nuchal fold and visualization of the fetal nasal bone

Additionally:

• Hormone determination through a blood sample from the mother.

• Ascertainment of maternal risk factors

From these parameters, a scientifically sound program calculates the individual probability that the unborn child may be affected by trisomy 21, 13 or 18. The test results will be explained to you in detail, and i will be happy to advise you if you would like further clarification of the results. Of course, your child will also be examined for organic abnormalities as part of this test. The combined test is performed between the 11th and 14th weeks of pregnancy.

Praeeklampsie-screening

Preeclampsia (colloquially known as pregnancy poisoning) is a pregnancy-related condition that can be accompanied by high blood pressure, laboratory abnormalities, edema, and protein in the urine in the mother. The unborn child may suffer from chronic blood deficiency, and in the worst case, premature delivery may be necessary.

The following parameters are recorded:

• Ultrasound measurement of blood flow in the maternal blood vessels (uterine arteries) that supply the uterus.

• Blood pressure measurements four times a day.

• Concentration of placental hormones in the maternal blood.

If an increased risk of preeclampsia is identified, the use of ThromboASA is recommended. This medication can minimize the occurrence of preeclampsia by up to 80%.

NIPT - non-invasive prenatal test

The NIPT uses a sequencing technology in which the fetal DNA is extracted from the mother's blood and then analyzed in the laboratory. A single blood sample is sufficient to detect or rule out the most common genetic disorders with high sensitivity and specificity. Upon request, screening for specific genetic abnormalities of the sex chromosomes and deletion/duplication syndromes, as well as gender determination, can also be performed.

In my practice, the genetic test is only available with a detailed ultrasound examination, as this is the only way to detect major physical malformations. The ultrasound examination will be scheduled separately if the NIPT is performed early.

Organscreening

Organ screening is a detailed ultrasound examination that can detect structural malformations such as heart defects or kidney disease. This examination examines the various organ systems closely – a head-to-toe examination. The optimal time for the examination is between the 22nd and 23rd weeks of pregnancy, as ultrasound conditions are particularly favorable during this week. However, the examination is generally possible between the 20th and 24th weeks. The detection of a normal ultrasound scan of the baby is reassuring for many parents. On the other hand, any abnormal findings are discussed in detail, and follow-up care is offered upon request.

3D / 4D ultrasound

Most expectant parents wish to meet their unborn child. During a 3D/4D ultrasound scan, this wish can come true if the baby is in the right position. Using a special ultrasound probe, a volume of your baby's body is scanned and converted into a three-dimensional image by a computer. This allows both surface images of your baby to be taken and cross-sectional images of your baby to be displayed in different planes. A 3D scan is like a photo of your baby. A 4D scan appears like a video. As a reminder, you will receive the images via SMS link to your cell phone. The best time for this scan is from the 26th week of pregnancy onwards.
